interconnected Smoke
Detectors
to your Alarm Panel for
monitoring by an off-site
monitoring company.

120V AC power, interconnected Smoke Alarms in multifamily dwellings (apartment houses, condos, rest homes, etc) are required by law in most places, but they are a good idea in single family dwellings as well, in that they do saves thousands of lives and billions of dollars in property damage every year.

One way to minimize property damage is to connect your  Smoke Detectors to your Alarm Panel so that an off-site central station can professionally monitor them. Having a monitored Smoke Alarms gives you piece of mind, knowing that your family, pets, and valuables will be will be watched over, even if you are away from home.

One of the most important features of your interconnected smoke detectors is the ability to connect it to your central station monitored alarm system. Should a fire break out while no one is at your home, it would take a long time before anyone outside would see that your house is on fire. It takes a tremendous amount of heat to break a window, allowing smoke to escape your home, thus making a fire visible from the outside. By that time your house is being severely burned. With monitored smoke detection, the fire can be detected in its early stages, and the fire department will have a chance to arrive before your house is completely lost, and most importantly before anyone gets hurt.

You can connect your interconnected Smoke Alarms to your Alarm Panel for Monitoring by and off-site central station, that gets notified when your alarm system is triggered, using Cepco's Model TR-SAI, Smoke Alarm Interconnect Module , and a Model RX-CCO, Contact Closure Module . This allows monitoring of all of the Smoke/Heat Detectors throughout the building, rather than just one that has been installed by the monitoring company for this purpose.

The hookup of the Model TR-SAI with the Smoke Detector is shown below.

If your 120V Smoke Alarms are already interconnected, you will only need to install one TR-SAI with any one of the interconnected Detectors, then plug-in a RX-CCO at any electrical outlet, and connect the output into the Alarm Panel. If your Detectors are not already interconnected you can install a TR-SAI with each Detector to interconnect them.

The hookup of the RX-CCO to the Alarm Panel is shown below.

The Model TR-SAI, Smoke Alarm Interconnect Module, allows you to interconnect Smoke Detectors (Alarms) so that when smoke or fire activates one, they all will sound the alarm, without the necessity of adding a third wire. When the detector is triggered, the TR-SAI transmits the alarm code over the 120V AC power wiring. This signal is available at every point and every outlet, and is used to trigger the other smoke detectors along with the RX-CCO

The Model RX-CCO, Contact Closure Module, is a plug-in Powerline Carrier Receiver Module that provides a set of isolated Relay Contacts (Form C, NO-C-NC), that switch when the unit is activated. It plugs directly into the 120V AC outlet, and receives its turn-On commands over the existing AC power wiring from the Model TR-SAI, Smoke Alarm Interconnect Module. .
