Application Note #08           | Products | Application Notes |

ADA Compliant Smoke Detectors for Multiple Dwellings such as Senior Housing, Retirement Homes, Convalescent Homes, etc., using Powerline Carrier Modules.

Install a Smoke Detector Trigger Module, Model RX-SDT with each ADA appliance, and use a Miniature Transmitter , Model TX-BUG2(NO) to activate them in emergencies. (Listed by United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for senior housing projects.)

ADA (American with Disabilities Act) requires that a visual and audible appliance (smoke detector with horn and strobe meeting their specifications) be either hardwired or connected through the 120V AC power lines to a facility alarm system in commercial housing (Senior Housing, Retirement Homes, Convalescent Homes, Hotels, Motels, etc.)

To accomplish this, install a Smoke Detector Trigger Module, Model RX-SDT in the electrical box to drive each ADA appliance.

A Miniature Transmitter, Model TX-BUG2(NO) is installed at the facility fire alarm panel, using the normally open contacts to activate the TX-BUG2(NO) when the fire alarm is pulled. This will activate the Model RX-SDT's and thus trigger the ADA appliances. All DIP switches are set to the same code.
